Figured I'd make a continuation for the P4A thread, since they've announced a new sequel/addon will be coming out soon for P4A in Japan. Announcements for the sequel/add on so far are Yukari and Junpei from Persona 3 will be playable characters, and also new game play elements are added. As stated here:"In the updated version, players can choose between Normal type and Shadow type when selecting characters except for Elizabeth and Shadow Labrys. Normal type will allow for Bursts to counter rushing opponents or to use for combos with One More Bursts. The Shadow type will utilize Shadow Rage, which can be used when the SP meter is full, allowing for unlimited SP Skills, and Skill Boosts for a limited time. The new version is under testing in Japan right now, specifically at the Akihabara Hey in Tokyo and Taito Station Nihombashi in Osaka from August 16 to 18. Atlus confirmed to Polygon that the update is currently for the Japanese arcade version of the game with no word whether it will come to consoles for North America." I'm hoping this is going to be like Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition. By that I mean the game will be sold as a stand alone, but owners of the original can download the new content as some sort of DLC for a reduced price. Here are some screenshots so far: Here's hoping this comes to the US consoles. Also this thread is still open for general P4A discussion.

Currently replaying Persona 3 FES on my NG+ file. Can't believe we didn't get a new Persona game for consoles this whole generation. They could have at least released P4 Golden as a console download. P4 was such a good game, I hate to miss out on the new stuff. I understand that Arena's storyline is supposed to be canon? Unusual for a fighting game offshoot, but I have also heard that the story is more extensive than a normal fighter's. Rumor is that it's even setting up the story leading up to P5's release. In related Persona news, there are also some P3 based movies releasing in Japan in the near future. It'll be good to see the main character finally get a little personality, so long as they don't screw it up. Can't wait for them to make it to this side of the world.

I started Pesona 3: FES after downloading it from the Playstation store, but have been intently caught up with Persona 4 instead. Then I've been hopping around between P4A and P4 every now and then. I have heard about Persona 3: The Movie coming out soon, but I'd rather not watch it till I finish the game, I don't wanna spoil the ending after all. I'm doing the same with Persona 4: The Animation, waiting till the game is finished to actually watch it. I'm interested to see where the story after P4A goes. They did end it on quite a cliffhanger once you finish any of the story modes really. The story is quite extensive and I believe it is canon, taking place about a year after Persona 4. Don't quote me on that though cuz I'm not 100% sure but I do believe they say that it's a year later in the game. I can't wait for Persona 5. I hope Labrys makes an appearance. She was one of my favorites, if not #1 to play in Arena. I can agree with you on P4:G, I wish it came to PS3. I didn't wanna have to go buy a PS Vita for just one game so I've just been playing the PS2 copy. If I ever do get a Vita I will definitely pick it up though.

Going to P4 before P3 will likely make it much more difficult for you. P4 has a much improved combat system in that you have actual control over your allies, and it is generally easier. Only thing I really disliked about P3 was that your party was all AI controlled and would constantly make dumb moves, though it would usually be better once you'd analyzed an enemy. (Looking at you, Mitsuru. Enough with the Marin Karin already! It doesn't work! Ugh.) That, as well as the P3 and P4 mechanic of Game Over on MC death instead of party death. Makes gaining progress a chore because you'll pretty much make a run up to the next cutoff floor so you can teleport back to the hub and save, then grind until you can beat the boss there. On your first run through, you're quite likely to die and cost yourself potentially hours of work. Keeping in mind that there are numerous Instant Death attacks, and the possibility of getting preempted and having each enemy in the fight attack the MC or spam AoEs, you can end up dead before you can even do anything about it. This does get better as you go through the game, your understanding improves and your options open up. Forming links with your P4 party even lets them tank otherwise lethal attacks for you after a while. But it's still a flaw I'd like to see addressed in P5.

I did get a few months into Persona 3 before I stopped playing it. The whole MC death Game Over was a lot like Final Fantasy XIII's so I've been super cautious. There have been times a 1HK/Instant Death attack had ruined about 45 minutes of grinding, which is quite unfortunate and I did dislike when that happened. I have gotten used to it and have been doing rather well so far. :] One thing I hate about P3 is that damn fatigue system. It's like "oh, everyone's tired after 2 floors, no more exploring today."

Right. You really have to pick your battles, and it does get a lot better as you go since your party gets stronger. One thing to note, if you run away from a battle it doesn't count towards your fatigue limit. That apparently only ticks on a battle's completion. This is really handy to know when you're trying to complete some of Elizabeth's Requests.

Thanks for the info. I would always fight to do some level grinding so maybe that's why I'd only average like three floors. I'm sure it gets easier when you have more than three total party members.
