Hey everyone,
With talks of merging two forums (and I would like to bold, underline, strongly emphasize, etc, that they're talks not actions to avoid any misunderstandings) I am interested in what people think of the idea. There are also just some questions about the communities. I've made a survey with questions in it that will hopefully provide some light on what people are thinking of right now. I'll leave it open for a few weeks.
What do I plan on doing with the results? I will make responses anonymous (unless Google does that automatically) and I hope to be able to share them with everyone in a timely manner. Finals are coming up so the results might be delayed.
There is one page dedicated to the Sixth Nation and one dedicated to OGOB. If you are a part of these communities, please answer the questions on those pages. If not, perhaps you can change that situation and you can answer those pages for the second survey.
I do plan on giving a similar survey a few months from now. Some people seem excited about the idea of a merger now, but if some time and discussion changes minds I think it would be good to see that before any major plans go ahead.
Here is the survey:
docs.google.com/forms/d/1vL7hXm3MUYJDcMarp0g-VX1ff509mLJl3vAQ6fdmwDU/viewform
I don't know how long it will take; it will depend on what responses you make.
I'll let this thread also be used for any discussion people want to have over the idea.

- Chuck Norris
- Family like environment, good gaming discussion/advice/recommendations.
- The people, when they actually want to talk.

What are your least favourite aspects of the Sixth Nation?
- Smells like dirty feet. Too many old xx members, who I assume are the cause of the aforementioned smell. The queens English is intimdating. Less bacon.
- The new site. Just ugh. It's caused me to stop going there completely because I can't stand it.
- If dog shit could in turn produce its own shit, the result would be ProBoards.
- Losing some of its game chat.
- We dont play together that much any more, A lot of people try to create game days but it just seems to always fall through
- the colour scheme and forum
- Not very intuitive
- Surveys.
- Vladfimir Putin
- New users don't seem to want to hang around. There don't seem to be anyone playing the same games I'm playing. More regular gaming events don't seem to get a lot of attention. Having to follow Forumotion's and ProBoard's rules.
- more admins/mods than active users

- Drive membership
- It's open court jump shot. It's verbal SAT section. More syrup, less jelly.

- The site. Ugh.
- The global financial structure
- Quit being judgmental.
- colour scheme, look and forum
- Where it's hosted. Forumotion and Proboards both kind of suck.
- Social gaming night aspects
- more focus on bringing the community together
- More active mods/Admins. No one shows up. And when a troll is lurking about, it usually takes an act of congress - "Reg Users" are tracking down them team to find someone to take care of the problem. And by that time, a regular user is at risk of being banned because they felt the need to protect the community. Most of the Mods/admins ( with an exception of a few ) are either absent, or only in the "back room " talking amongst themselves and not participating in the forum itself.
- amount of people and getting more pc gamers
- I think some people have left and others havent replaced them.

- Moo.
- frollicking through field of beautiful flowers while thinking about how wonderful life is then accidentally running into street and getting decapitated by oncoming oscar mayer wiener truck

- Needs more boobs.
What are your favourite aspects of OGOB?
- Familiar friends/faces from Myres 1.0
- NA
- The community feel of the site.
- Everything not related to Call of Duty.

- SMF forum
- Some of the people are cool
- The people are nice enough, drugs, looks and feel of smf and its not policed hard
- Rearranged, the letters spell BOOG, which is nice, as I'm from Baltimore, and Blog Powell is a person of note here. I like the more fresh smell. I like the constant reliance on the dime defence, as it's secondary is quite strong. Extra plusses for yodeling. Also, 10 points for Griffindore!! is a catchy slogan.
- The people. I would never use the site if it weren't for the people that I enjoy talking to.
- Majority of members have formed a tight bond over the last 8 or 9 years.
What are your least favourite aspects of OGOB?

- Has people that were on myres 1.0 that I like

- Game board organization.
- Too much Call of Duty.
- Everything. Seriously.

each other on whats acceptable. Because we aren't hosted by a forum provider, we are away from prying eyes. Moderators don't do anything except beat the shit out of spammers. Compared to the old days where i had to babysit certain members
- I like how you can say or do almost anything you want here.
- Needs more boobs.
Future Site Questions:
What is the main reason you choose to participate in either forum?
- The community really, The people don't judge new comers. They help people out and always try to cheer people up - As before, it's all about the people to me.
- Many friends on both. Clothing optional is nice, too.
- The people mostly. I just hate having to go between two forums to talk to all of them.
- I like the friends and talking about new and present and past games with people that share similar interests of mine.
- Know everyone from MyRes 1.0
- OGOB because I was told about it very late by Kingpin and although i get on very well with the people on 6N (played with Leo etc on CoD), I already had a post count on OGOB and preferred the colour scheme.
- Kind of a continuation of MyResistance (the only one I choose to believe existed).
- Socializing. Being able to talk to others about my interests without censoring or fear of retaliation.
- Time killer and information
- The people.
- A community.
- It's got good people that share my interests.
- I like to discuss things.
- old friends lots of years
- Information on games, discussions about games, great people, valued input, and a great sense of community
- Friends
- Bonding with people all over the world to discuss games, life, and other random stuff.
- My peeps of course.
What forum features are important?
- Cuticle cutters, for when annoying hang-nails strike. Ooooh, and hide-tags.
- Open posting
- Features that help with setting up events, member recognition (awards), spoiler tags.
- "Show last posts"
- non-just user activity
- Threads and thats it.
- Ease of use, not too many child boards.
- Ease of use and not cluttered
- Forums are forums. The look is the only thing that differentiates good ones from bad ones.
- Being able to post.
- Ease of use. Clean interface. Hide tags.
- Easy to navigate, "New replies to your posts", Ass cuppers/crawlers/motivation for people to post good things instead of just shitposting.
- The game topics, Reviews , and the random board so people can rant and have a good time.
- Honestly, I think the most important one is a "Posts since last visit" button that shows all threads posted in since you checked in last. It shows people what's new without having to dig around through the forum.
Of the forum softwares you've had experience with, which one(s) do you prefer and why?
- Neutral
- SMF is nice and sleek and you have more freedom with it. It notifies you of a reply before you post yours. vbulletin looks nice.
- Probably vbulletin. Very modern and can be skinned seven ways from Sunday.
- SMF
- Pass.
- SMF. Easiest to use in my opinion
- Simple Machines, because it doesn't f***ing suck.
- SMF because its nice, not Lithium because its shit, not vbulletin as its got ingrown toe nails
- basic OGOB
- SMF is easy
- I personally love the style of forums that Myres 1.0 and OGOB have had. They're just so simple and have all the features I care about.
- I'm not smart enough to know what this means, so imagine a picture of a bunny on a pancake.
How should boards be organized in a forum?
- Games should be organized by genre rather than console.
- Categorically
- I tend to prefer having all subforums visible from the index instead of nested. Good Ex: Games heading -Adventure->specific titles Bad Ex: Games->Adventure->specific titles
- Not by console. There's no reason why PC Skyrim players can't talk to PS3 Skyrim players in the same thread.
- As long as there isn't too many sub boards anything is fine. For instance CoD doesn't need its own section when one thread will do.
- Gaming: PS4, Xbox, Multiplats Random: Southern Command Announcements Too many boards and posts become sparse and thin.
- News Gaming Chat
- That's really a tough question, Every one is going to have different ideas on how things should be organized. The best option would be to have a vote of a few ideas and see what is the most popular.
- Neatly. And with no section for Call of Duty.
- Anything that makes sense.
- basic games / clans / off topic Carefully. I don't think SN's current genre-based system is perfect because the lines between genres are so blurred these days. But dividing by console wasn't much better as it lead to a myth that consoles other than PS3 weren't accepted there. Even so, it might still be the best way to go for simplicity's sake.
- According to atomic weight. Simple with no frills
- HI-Read the rules of GTFO Community Games
- If the forum is about games, then gaming threads need to be at the top and take up more space then everything else. Off topic should be the very bottom and smallest section. If you don't have your subject matter at the top, you lose your draw for newbies.
Should the forum have a heavier emphasis on gaming or community, or should both be given equal attention?
- both are important
- Equal.
- Equal
- Both are equally important.
- Both I think
- both
- Both should be given equal attention, although I'm not sure that the gaming part really needs attention from the mods/admins because it comes with the userbase.
- Members, not penises, but body counts.
- Equal.
- Both.
- Equal if possible.
- Both. Duh!
- Both need attention
- I like both.
- You can't really play any of today's games without other players, so you need both.
- Equal. It should go both ways. Like Rep.
- I say community because I'm not a competitive gamer and am no longer a clan gamer.
- Equal attention, though perhaps leaning slightly toward gaming. It is, after all, a site for gamers primarily. - Equal Attention
- Equal!!!
What other features would you like to see at a possible new site (not specifically related to the forum)?
- Gaming tournaments
- Doesn't matter to me. As long as there's a submit post button, I'm good.
- A promotion of the users' twitch streams and youtube channels and stuff.
- Goats & Turtles, personal blogs?
- Nomination system.
- Maybe something showing what games are owned by what people . That way we could have a list for people we could play with . It could be broken down into systems / steam games
- Me as a moderator. A bad one.
- Handy time converter for setting up international meetings. Yes you can get this elsewhere, but it would be nice to have close to hand. If possible, link it with an interactive calendar that people can mark, but will only show up for them.
- Hardware reviews
- I would like to see cat pictures completely banned.
- Good calender, blog/news sections of the site
- Videos, news, updates.
If you have any other comments, please leave them here. Some responses edited to keep them anonymous
- :-| I'm a jerk. And I'd have no problem with a merge if it decided to happen, but much like the dirty neutral I am, I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
- If posts can be easily ported to the new site, than I would enjoy it. But if its too much work its not a big deal either.
- I like to sing-a about the moon-a and the June-a and the Spring-a
I love boobs.
- videos ozzy osbourne biting off bat head while shitting and pissing directly downward into my mouth several onlookers masturbate
- I've offered before but my family members (not penises) are web developers and could be of use. Thanks for putting your time in to looking in to the merger.
- No.
- Reputaion points are only imprtant to me to se what kind of participation a member has especially if new people are getting together it might make it easier to see that persons has more invested in being part of a community. - The survey is over. I win.
- put the petty stuff aside and merge for the better of the community
- While I answered that I care about the stats, it's not really a big deal to me if they don't transfer over, just that I'd like them to if it wasn't too hard. Also, this is [EDIT] if you need to ask me any further questions/want me to elaborate.
- Sorry, this survey has worn me out. I'ma take a nap now.
I don't know how long it will take; it will depend on what responses you make.
I'll let this thread also be used for any discussion people want to have over the idea.
