So I recently starting playing this again because they added a whole bunch of new content and I've missed the world and its insane amount of good roleplayers. Would anyone else care to join me on an adventure through middle earth? I am not taking my game time very seriously, just running around exploring and doing the odd quest/mission. The game play itself isn't super amazing or gripping but just the fact that its Lord of the Rings and its all very well written makes it fun, as well as the amazing community that's built up over the years. Its almost a guarantee that a group of players will be playing music and RPing when you walk into the prancing pony inn. It's completely free to download and play so you can't lose anything by trying haha I am on the server Landroval.

Minimum: OS: Windows XP (Service Pack 2) Processor: Intel Pentium 4 - 1.8GHz or AMD equivalent Memory: 512 MB Hard Disk Space: 10 GB Free Space Video Card: 64MB GPU with pixel shader 1.1 support (NVIDIA Geforce 3 or AMD Radeon 8500) DirectX®: 9.0c
Recommended: OS: Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or Windows Vista (Service Pack 1) Processor: Intel Pentium 4 - 2.8GHz or AMD equivalent Memory: 1 GB Hard Disk Space: 15 GB Free Space Video Card: 128MB GPU with pixel shader 2.0 support (NVIDIA Geforce 6800 or AMD Radeon 9600) DirectX®: 9.0c
Easy download through Steam.
I played for a little while, but lost interest pretty quickly. Gameplay is just too dull and repetitive for me. Especially if you don't buy a subscription. After the first act or so the ftp content dries up pretty fast and is reduced to just main quests, meaning leveling up is just a grind. Now, when you're not forced to grind it's not so bad, and if you have the money to spare you might give them a month's fee to play the good stuff.

I do agree with leveling feeling dry, I cannot stand just spending an evening going from quest to quest just to level up. I hate level systems in MMOs with a passion. All I do is run around and explore what I think looks cool, do some crafting to get some cool gear, do some roleplaying with random people. Its really the only way to play haha and its a lot of fun with the right people. I just noticed not a lot of people on this clan play the games that I do so I would throw up an invitation.

I wanna get back into an MMO but the only one I can get into is DC Universe on the PS3.

I like the idea of massive multiplayer, but just don't care for the form it almost always takes. Give me a giant world, sure, but make it fun to be in. Combat that's more active and fun to do like Borderlands or Kingdoms of Amalur instead of just pressing the "be a tank" button (or whichever is applicable to your class). And little to no grind. Heh. I think I just described Terraria or Starbound.

That's kind of why I'm looking forward to seeing how Elder Scrolls Online goes, kind of hoping they keep the combat pretty much the same as the other elder scrolls game.

That would actually be alright, assuming all the other stuff comes out well done too. Thing is, it's still going to be a subscription MMO, right? That means the grind is most probably going to be there. Skinner Boxing is the best way to keep people on the line and paying, unfortunately.

Probably for the first while, but like all the recents I see it going F2P after a while like DC universe and Star Wars did with option to purchase more stuff if you really want it.

Yeah. But even then it's still designed for a subscription and will play as such. Either that, or like LotRO, it'll badly slow your grind if you don't pay.

Well they kind of do have to make money somehow for the continued services, so I don't mind paying a little something towards it now and again for a new class or additional content.

Oh, absolutely. I definitely understand and agree with that. The only problem comes in when they charge so much for them (perhaps because they have to?).

To be honest Im not that excited for elder scrolls online. Sure it felt exactly like elder scrolls and the combat felt pretty much the same as well but its just another MMO with a cool setting. You get down to the bottom of it and there will still be a grind through the low levels in order to play the cooler content. The Devs even said this in one of their videos "Once you get up to level 70 then things really start getting interesting". Boom. That right there put me off from it a lot. I absolutely hate when games make you spend 20 hours or whatever just to get to special game modes. Yeah I get that you cant throw up your best content for low level people but still, the only reason I want to play MMORPGS is to do all this cool stuff that you cant do in singleplayer RPGs but the fact that I have to devote weeks of free time to get there really frustrates me. Why not just play skyrim? Anyways this had led me to the mind set of "Screw playing MMO's like everyone else, I'm just gonna do what I want to do, take my time and not give a sh*t about leveling." Its actually really effective and it totally destroys the whole worrying about pay to play stuff because who cares if you are low level? Only problem is its hard to find people with this playstyle haha. Anyways thats my two cents (sorry I went off on a bit of a tangent there)
