I hear you. American Literature since 1870 looks to be a ton of reading and writing for me, along with two other time-wasters, College Algebra and Art History & Appreciation. I really, really hate required courses that have nothing to do with the degree you're after.

Second that. RT: do they make a xbox controller that looks/is shaped like a dual shock? That was always something I couldn't get used to and kept me off the xbox.

I really, really hate required courses that have nothing to do with the degree you're after. I don't like my third-year geography writing course. I've spent about three weeks trying to figure out what political ecology means and what it has to do with everything we're learning. What degree requires College Algebra AND Art History?

Those both general education required courses. Everyone has to take them. For no good reason. My particular degree is journalism.
Geography Writing? What manner of thing is this? "Saw a rock today. I could tell it lived a hard life. Definitely had things rough. Still, it seemed gneiss."

College algebra makes sense, I think. Be thankful it's not statistics I guess. I have a research paper for river geomorphology towards the end of the semester, but to graduate with a degree I need a third-year writing course in my field of study. The only one they offered that fit my schedule and was in both streams I'm considering was Nature and Society. That has its own term paper, plus I have to write a summary for each week's journal readings and they will be randomly collected two times. Way to makes us do the homework.

Actually, looking into it it seems that the majority of jobs won't ever require any math skill above Algebra 1 (journalism among them), and most places that require even that will train you. There are, of course, any number of professions that do require intensive math skills. Scientists, engineers, etc. Those should be the only degrees that require it, imho. Compulsory math should stop after Algebra 1 level. It's enough to know whether or not you're cut out for it or just interested in learning more, and for everyone else it still helps improve their problem-solving abilities to a degree. Anything else is pointless if you'll never use it. All it's doing is making the colleges money by forcing students to attend more courses and spend more time there.

Random Fact: Walking Dead finally picked up and got better in season 3, took me ages to get through season 2
Random Thought: I really like playing Dead Island again.
Random Thought 2: I wonder if there is any correlation...

It could be that it's the end of the world and zombies are winning yet everyone is still acting like petty bitches and fighting over meaningless crap and not doing what they need to survive. Except Ricks kid. He's awesome.
