So my PS3 "slim" laser took a dump last nite only about a month after I installed it. I haven't gotten into it tearing it apart because I have to much other stuff to do in this damn money pit I call a house. But I digress. Does anyone own a Super Slim, they came out with them last fall and have a disc top loader instead of a slot to put in the disc like a normal "slim". I'm thinking I might as well get one instead of just patching together this PS3 once a month but I'm not sure if I should go with the new "Super Slim" versions which cost a bit less than the regular "slim" Let me know if you own one and if you have any problems with it or even if you read somewhere about a problem. I have heard the disc noise is louder but other than that nothing terrible I'm looking for a deal to keep me on my PS3 for about a year at least so I can go thru my backlog of games and then give it to one of my kids

I have a Super Slim, no bothers with it. The disc compartment is on a latch that the top cover slides down revealing the disc tray rather than an ejector. Runs okay for me. Built in 500GB HDD was a nice feature too.

I got the 250Gb UC3 bundled PS3 at Amazon for $268 US dollars. It comes with codes for a free year of PSN plus. Since I plan on renewing that anyway its like $50 off and "drops" the price to $218. Thats about $100 cheaper than my slim. I know the PS3prices will drop a bit as the PS4 comes to fruition and used ones are even cheaper but I didn't need to buy into a possible problematic used one and I got a nice 750Gb HDD ready for this one if I need it. I already have the original UC3 game so I dont know what to do with the GOTY I'll be getting on Friday. Trade in value is under 5 bucks, I can probably donate it to Goodwill for a better tax write off lol.

I have some neighbor kids that come by and borrow a few PS3 games I'll probably give it to one of them. Unless I give away my old slim system away once I replace the laser again. I'll just throw in any extra games or ones I wont play anymore. |

I got a free month when I got mine with that same exact bundle but for a higher price but I guess its the difference between getting it at GameStop and Amazon. Also, the GOTY edition comes with all the characters and gear that you would've had to pay real money for otherwise, its great. I do highly recommend the system, its pretty light, which helps for bringing it back and forth since I'm in college, and the slider on the top helps to make it smaller, which increases its portability, I managed to bring just the system and the cords home with me at Christmas in my backpacks computer slot. |

The UC3 GOTY with PSN plus for a year only came out this June, the one that came out last September had the one month PSN plus and some Dust freebies. Is that the one you got Vrals ?? I just got it set up last night and it is a lot smaller and lighter than my old slim model. It would be perfect for you taking back home and to school. Now I'm in the middle of deactivating all my consoles. I was signed up at my friends house so he and I could play my PSN plus games at his house, but PSN only lets you use 2 consoles now. Which will certainly limit how many PS4's I am going to put in my house. |

That is the bundle I got, I was literally the first person to buy one in all of Oakland, Pittsburgh, PA, I got the first one out of the first shipment that the GameStop there got. I have my PSN on a friend of mine's PS3, meaning I had to deactivate my account on the PS3 at my house but its really no loss, I barely play on it anyway. I can't tell you how great the lightness is, the transporting is great, and the slimness works great for getting through airport security.
