I KNOW RIGHT!? There are some really nice touches though like the Jet Wash thing. Surprised you got to land (o.o) I was all "Wait, I could have landed?" That's just it. You couldn't land and survive. If it wasn't for my jetwash throwing them around and making them miss me, I wouldn't have been able to either. But to be fair, in that situation the planes would just recover and blast you once you were on the ground. In fact, that's pretty much the optimal solution for them. But it still feels a little like I got robbed.
Also, thanks for fixing the spoiler. It doesn't show in the Preview for whatever reason, so I thought it just wasn't working.
Hah, i figured I couldn't just suddenly thought that there may have been a second possible ending for a second there. Never did go investigate that crash... The trick to it is to just put in the spoiler tags and hope it works

I got some shitty games last night, barely covered the money I lost from the hospital bills from people running me over and killing me. Find myself activating Passive mode more often cause the €100 is cheaper than $2000 per death in free roam and I got run over a lot. Even had my personal bike destroyed. Least I had insurance.
SilverAssassin played some good games with me last night, managed to get some good cash flow back into my hands even though he killed me a lot while we were on opposite teams. Before that it was shite cause even team mates were killing me and running me off the road. Bikes can be great for weaving in and out of heavy traffic but if a team mate hits you while at speed and you go head first into a wall it counts as suicide. I did get $1,000 for being a good sport though.
I love how under Dingo's stats it says that he has had a bounty placed on him 29 times.

Gah I'm still too afraid to go online after hearing of all the lost characters, I'm waiting for confirmation that the problem is fixed before I invest too much time in it. I am still collecting trophies in the sp though

The character loss is caused by people trying to go online when the cloud servers are down. You are given a choice to retry and use a temporary character. People make the temporary character and use it to overwrite the characters that would be in the slot their normal characters are in. So when they go online the data syncs with the server and is told that the slot is overwritten with a new character that was temporary.
Really all you have to do is not create a temporary character or try to go online when the server says it's down. Simply try again later.
I've being following the instructions and no problem. Also exit out of the game via the pause menu - online - leave GTA Online. Saves your progress and brings you back to the main game. Then from there I just do a quick save via the phone to be sure. No hassle.
You do have two slots at the start to create characters.
I will say the one thing I find annoying, when you are in a game and loading up if the host chooses "Auto Invite and Play" anyone on my friends list that is playing GTAV, wheter online or not, gets sent an invite. So I'm inadvertently flooding people with requests.
Rx brought it to my attention, when he sent me a message saying that he wasn't playing online. I never sent an invite cause I wasn't the host and couldn't send one. The host sent it via me. While useful for sending out to as many people as possible who would hopefully fill a game, it can get annoying to people who are just doing Story Mode or in a different game online with other people.

Never knew you could save via the phone... Is that why I keep getting 'There is already a save for ******* mission, do you want to overwrite this?' all the time? Also, what is it with these cars/bikes in SP that speed away from you all the time, are you supposed to chase them for something?

Yeah, I found it near the end of the game. By accident. And when I restarted the game I noticed the Tutorial pop ups saying about how you can save with the phone. It's the first left when you bring up the phone.
I think that's your auto save you mean there. It's the one that pops up after missions. It only has one file and saves to that but needs you to say Overwrite. The Manual saves also have their own slots. It always loads the most recent.
Iunno about the bikes, but when I'm stealing something I either get knocked down by it to stop em or shoot the owner.

Also, what is it with these cars/bikes in SP that speed away from you all the time, are you supposed to chase them for something? Only time I've seen bikes speed away from me is when they're in a mini-quest. They should appear as a red/blue dot, and there'll be someone around yelling "Hey, he stole my bike!" You can go run it down, and ride it back to its owner. Most of the time nothing useful will happen, but one time I got a text a few days later where a guy transferred $100,000 in stock to the character that did it's Portfolio. Which reminds me, I should check and see how that's doing. Never seen that with cars though.

Nice. I'll have to make an online character soon. Still working on the Single Player, but I think I'm nearing the end.
Anyone have any suggestions for what to do online? How does it work? What's money used for? I hear there's a ranking system, but I don't know how it works.

When you start out, you will go straight to a brief tutorial, race and mission. Money is used for everything. Buying a car, car insurance, replacing a destroyed vehicle with insurance weapons, ammo, garages, safe houses, passive mode (A mode where other people can't harm you), starting certain activities, paying for the hospital bills when you get killed in free mode to cover the medical expenses. There is a sink for the money. You can put it into a bank so that it can't be stolen from you via ATM's or your phone.
I recommend grouping up with friends and doing the missions and activities as they open up to you, avoid freemode till you establish yourself as a "Good Sport" so you play with other good sports rather than dick weed bad sports. Don't quit mid mission or destroy someones personal vehicle when you're starting out to get a good sport ranking. You will level up quick enough. When you can, do survival missions, good money in them if you survive enough waves of enemies (that get progressively harder. Group up with crew members for good Rep Point (Exp Points) When you feel confident enough in your skills do hard mode on missions (1.5x Exp points for completion.)
Expect griefers. You can challenge them to a 1v1 if they kill you. I haven't lost a 1v1 yet I think. Sawn off shot guns are your friend at close range. Bikes are good for weaving in and out of traffic but terrible for when a car suddenly swerves at you.
Build up your strength stat. It's useful.

And get online and play with me I need someone to do jobs with that won't mess up.
Last job I had to take a tanker of oil. I took the tanker and managed to lose the cops. With the cops no longer after me I was free and clear. My team-mates however had other ideas. They decided to follow me with the cops following them. Cops were not after me or anything. They were only after the team mates who decided to kill and shoot at every cop following them instead of losing them. The more hassle the caused the more road blocks I had to deal with. Eventually I got stuck in a pile of cars in front of me, unable to progress through the crush. Being the ever helpful people they are, while I was starting to back up one of them decided to use high explosives to remove the obstacles in my path. There-by blowing me up along with the truck because of my close proximity.
Got an "LOL u suck" type message and restarted the mission, despite my reservations. Got to the truck cops were coming and while I was backing away to get escape one of them jumps in the front seat and shoots at the cops thereby ensuring I cannot escape. 5 minutes of this I stopped the truck got out and let the cops run me over. A further 15 minutes of watching some stupidity awaiting for the others to get killed so I can quit safely without tarnishing my "good sport" rating.
Before that I did a different tanker mission and one of my team mates decided to kill me so they could take the truck for a drive after knocking me down off my bike for giggles.
That is not to detract from the good team mates though. I had some seriously good missions with guys that were twice my level. And they invited me back into play with them on other missions, despite my low level.
Got my apartment, $400,000 GTAO dollars. There is one of the same model I have minus the views, for $230,000 in the town center. Getting my garage stocked. Two bikes and three cars. Dingo has some serious amount of cars though. Dude can't play a game without a bounty placed on his head. :-p

As soon as I can, my friend. Still working my way though the main game. And while I can't promise to be good at it, I will do my best not to intentionally screw up.
Ignore the idiots' messages. They've got to be 12 year-olds whose parents didn't bother to check the game's rating. At least, I have to believe that.
So, what does the apartment do for you, exactly?

Gives you a spawn point, a place for your crew to hang out in off the map without other people mowing you down, a wardrobe, a tv and a shower. It's more of a status thing or something to sink your money into. I also get a 10 bay garage to hold my personal/favorite vehicles, however you can just buy a garage alone to do that if you don't wanna sink money into an apartment, keep it for car mods/weapons/vehicles.
I couldn't be arsed responding or whatever to the message. Didn't bother me either. I was like (o.O) "Yeah, yo momma's titties." in my head.

With the in game garages (offline) if I save a car then drive it out , if it blows up will it be back in the garage or is it gone for good ?
I spent about 60K on upgrading a car for Franklin. Now I'm to afraid to drive it lol .

you will almost never actually blow up a car. at least from my experience. usually i lose a car due to a high speed collision which launches me from my car and kills me. fairlycertain it is supposed to return to your garage upon destruction assuming there is room

If left somewhere it gets impounded, blown up I dunno. I searched and someone else asked the same question on a GTA Forum which devolved into a talk about the modding and garage glitch but no actual answer.
I think I'll test it out later.

All of the luxuruy apartments (those costing more that 205k) come with heist rooms where you can plan heists from Lester which will be unlocked in a few weeks.
