I prepared myself for the pumpkin moon, and tried it twice (once with out potions once with.) to get a feel for it for when we do it together.
I can either go tank or high dps.
If tank i'll take the paladin shield, and have a star veil, and turtle armor. i'll have 80+armor before potions, i'll be more likely to be attacked, and every time one of you gets hit I will take 1 damage, have an extended invulnerbility time, and stars will fall damaging enemies.
If I go DPS I will be minion heavy. I will have under 50 armor before potions. I will have 5+ pygmy minions that are insane at destroying the mobs in the pumpkin moon. and my hydra will hit for over 180. I may die a decent a bit, but the damage output will be crazy.
I am going to get started on building an arena specifically designed for the P Moon

I suggest you tank, but even if you do go DPS, I may be able to keep you alive. If I'm not hurt, my spells will heal the nearest player who is.
If you do go tank, we'll have more mob control. I have a three tiered arena that worked well for this. Here's how I see it working:
Me up on the second tier casting/debuffing their defense, you and Jaded on the bottom tier with ranged attacks (mostly Vamp Knives, I would guess?). When the trees start showing up, you and I make sure to place Nimbus clouds directly above where you're standing (since they'll target you, most likely) because they won't move out of the way of it if they're targeting someone. When the Pumpkings start showing, you move up to the second tier and put your Nimbus clouds as high as you can directly above you. I'll move to the top tier, putting my clouds on yours and adding yet more damage. Pumpkings will still hurt you, but since they won't be targeting me (and nothing else can reach me up there) my spells will keep you healthy, and you'll keep Jaded healthy by soaking with the Paladin Shield, so he can focus on the lower mobs.
The way the event works is that each mob is worth so many points, and when you get enough points the next waves comes in. So, I suggest we focus on killing as many bosses as we can as quickly as possible. I think the setup I describe has the best chance of that. Thoughts, anyone?

If i kill mobs while your fighting bosses (or my minions do) and it increases the wave while we are fighting bosses then they will have a better chance of dropping loot. if we set it up right we can all just focus on killing the bossess while other things auto kill all the enemies.
also can I call dips on the new hook? it is the number 1 thing I want from this update

Well...okay. Since you asked nicely. And because Jaded and I already have one... I'm mostly after the two trophies, but I'm thinking we'll get several of those if the wiki is right. They only drop in the last wave, but will always drop from any killed there. In addition, they will always drop one of their rare items as well, but which one is random. But I'd take the Raven Staff if it shows itself. I believe Jaded was looking for the Horseman's Blade. If you're going for minion damage, then you might want the trees' drop, the Necromantic Scroll. +1 minions and + 10% minion damage. I can't really speak on the minion front, as I have yet to have the stupid Pygmy Staff drop for me. If they are that good at killing the regular mobs, then your idea might work best. Question though. Are your minions immune to lava? 'Cause that's what's on the floor of my arena at the moment. Nothing that can't be fixed with a few actuators and a switch, of course, if we need to. I think our biggest enemy is time, or at least it was with just me and J. With the three of us, we may be able to let the bosses live a bit longer.

On the note of what role should be held , i think a tank would be better suited for soaking up a lot of the damage. Especially with the paladin shield triggering off your star veil . Right now my vampire knives deal 51 damage with a 46 % crit chance before potions . I feel confident enough that I will be able to stand on the first platform and heal faster than I'm being dealt damage. Also you would be able to distract the pumpkin king , you and monkey could go up to the platform and take him out . The summon build seems a little more fragile and dying frequently may become a hassle for you. Those are my thought , but it all comes down to what you really think is the best though.

i have 2 pygmy staffs. also we should be able to pass the staff around and all get 1 of them. they dont go away. they dont even die. (which is also my response to lava...not sure if it will kill them, but they havent died from regular combat...but die when I do)
im honestly not too sure how fragile I would be if someone else was a tank. im only used to playing solo. but i can go pygmy and ranged, and stay rather evasive. especially considering that minions act on their own and dont need me to do anything. also i find playing as that to be a lot of fun (and different) but we can try both ways

Well, if others can't connect to me again, I guess you'll get your wish on streamlining the arena since it'll need to be in either your worlds or Jaded's. Need to fiddle with my stuff again, I suppose.

It will have to be nobody's world , I don't really have an arena made , nor will I really have the time when I get home tonight.
If that doesn't work I can build one tonight and we can aim for trying tomorrow .

So, I have this problem where I've learned of the Rod of Discord. Now I have to have one. Chaos Elemental farming time. Low drop chance though. Need to find a way to automate it. Good going last night, guys. Kicked that event's butt pretty good. I thought we weren't quite managing to finish, but it turns out that the event doesn't have an end like the Goblin/Pirate invasions. It just goes until dawn. Got everything we were looking for but one Horseman's Mask, I believe. Still, I'm up to try again whenever anyone wants. If nothing else, it's a good source of income. One suggestion I have for the arena is making the lowest area a little higher up. Horsemen can still hit you on the jump, and a tree somehow managed to melee me one time, which was fatal. Oh, yeah. And make yourself a set of wings out of that Black Fairy Dust. Best in the game and super cheap to reforge (for wings) at around 20 gold base. Got mine to Warding on the third attempt.

yea I had assumed that the final wave was never ending with how it was designed with higher waves having better drop rates, and that final wave only has bosses.
and yea I realized that thing about the arena being too low. though did you think the pit made a difference?

Some. The only ground mobs to worry about were the trees, and they could leave the pit whenever they wanted anyway. If the pit hadn't been there, and the ground was instead just more covered with lava to the point it stretched off screen so that the little mobs just walked through it more, I think it would have been a bit more effective. At need you can use an Obsidian Rose or something to avoid damage during loot collection, or put an actuator layer you can turn on/off just above the lava.

i didnt need to do anything special down there to avoid damage, heck i spent a good amount of time down there just standing in the lava clearing the enemies. I also never saw a tree leave that pit. I saw plenty that stayed on the edge, but none that came up after going in.

Could have been lag making me see some appear to jump out, I suppose. Regardless, it didn't stop their projectiles, and if the bottom layer was higher it wouldn't make any difference anyway. They'd still be standing in lava taking damage, and because their AI makes them stand under you anyway it's never hard to control their location.

Well, I've got my Rod of Discord. It is just as awesome as I hoped it would be... And just in time to be nerfed too! Not a huge hit though, as I hear it. Ouch. I heard wrong. It's now 100 points of damage to you if you use it twice within ten seconds. Ugh. I understand that whatever applications people were putting it to in PvP were probably terrible, but I don't think that was the best way to fix it.
1.2.1.2 Patch is now live. Fixes, changes, and new accessories. Not yet any info on the upcoming Lunar event, so still staying tuned for that. Meanwhile, here's some patch notes for you.

Yeah. It's apparently Wings (Ghost/Leaf quality) + Flying Carpet. Working on getting one myself. Too bad Shroomite's going to take forever. Get about 85 glowing mushrooms a pop with my farm, but it takes 15 per bar. Guess I'll have to expand the operation.
In other news, I now have spare Rods of Discord, if anyone wants one. Also Beam Swords and Philosopher's Stones.
Got some Unlucky Yarn out of a goodie bag, so now a little black cat in a Wizard Hat follows me everywhere, riding a broom when I have to fly. Only missing two goodie bag things now. One painting (Jacking Skeletron) and the Bathook. Not overly worried about them, but if anyone has spares to trade away I'm open to it.
