I haven't managed to do anything in a long while. Not since classes started. Working hard to get ahead so I can get to the Terraria when the patch hits.

Yeah, I feel sorry for poor GTA. They picked the wrong day. Surely, everyone will be off playing this, and the GTA servers will be a ghost town.

5 days.
Also when it releases I will likely be playing it solo. I wont have much time to play it. already dont have much time, but then i've got to split my time between GTAO and this. and I really want to experience and figure things out on my own. eventually I will switch over and play with you guys though.

try a character on a lower difficulty so you dont drop all your stuff. thats how cobalt monkey plays

Yup. Anything else is just a pain in the neck, imho. If you're already on a character that Softcore, then you're only dropping half your money, so it's not a big deal. Stash your money in a chest or piggy bank whenever you're at your base, and you're good.

and to switch characters just drop all your stuff in a chest, and make a new character and go pick em up. all youll lose is max health and mana

Redigit, creator of Terraria did an AMA today on reddit. Found this bit of info particularly good. Link to full thread.

Very nice!
Side note: server paid up for another month! We will see how usage is for October? If it drops off huge again after the patch, I may not renew. Sorry, but September wasn't very productive (myself included). I know a large part of that was the fact we have been waitin for 1.2, and GTA 5 (hehe). Don't get me wrong, I have no problem paying for it if it's used, but if not... Well, we'll see. I won't just stop with out communication with you all first anyway.

Perfectly understandable. If we're just not using something, then there's no reason to keep paying for it. I know I haven't been able to do much of anything lately. Just too much course work. Related question, when/if we don't keep the server around, can we make the world file available here? Even if we don't continue playing in that world, it'll be nice to be able to revisit what we build with friends later on.
At any rate, thanks for keeping it going, Ry.

I imagine things will pic up dramatically post patch. there are 2 types of people playing on the server. the hard core terraria fans. that love the game, and have played it a bunch, and are on the server to play through it again with friends (like me and cobalt), and those who arent. most of whom are playing through it for the 1st time recently. some of whom probably dont really enjoy it all that much, but enjoy playing with other people together.
Once the update hits it gives people like me and cobalt a real reason to play and invest countless hours into it. we aren't just replaying an old game to have some fun with friends. we will be playing it for the fresh new experience. which then further encourages the people who just want to play with others, or even those who want to feel like we are all playing it together for the 1st time, experiencing new things together and such.
that being said interest is bound to die off eventually and what you said is bound to hold true at some point. and as you are paying for it, it is up to you when you want to do that.
also side note you'll need to create a new world as soon as the update hits

tobuscus has 1.2!
EDIT: OMFG you can place torches on the back walls in caves. no more having to place them along a solid surface anymore. such a small thing that totally changes so much.

Monkey - If I do end up terminating the service, I will copy the world file before I do, and share with all of us Nationopolis players. nobody - there's a third kind of player. Those of us playing through for the first time that really do enjoy the game, but have very limited time, and also prefer to play with people then by themselves The plan was to create a new world once the patch hits so, being forced to, works for us! In the end, I hope it remains active, it's a great game, and it's fun to play with you all. Time will tell! If not, we can always load up the saved world and host the odd MP game when the logistics can be arranged too PS - Skip to 3:55 in the vid to skip the world creation load screen, and his repeated eye colour tweaking, etc.

I said "SOME of whom probably dont enjoy it that much"
i basically meant it like 1st group are people who know the game well already, and the 2nd group are those that are learning the game.
