Well, I believe I have the bulk of it taken care of now. I just want to test out a couple more things, and then I will post the server information! It should be sometime tonight, or tomorrow!

Well the time has come! Our server is ready! I will PM all of those on the list, and any other the password for the server. Trying to maintain Nationites is all. Respect everyone playing and have fun! If you have any suggestions or requests for the server, I will see what I can do. The IP for Nationopolis is 96.8.119.194, port 7787 See you there! CobaltMonkey - Maybe you can add this blurb and IP to the OP. Thanks!

IMO the server should be displayed publicly with the rest of the information. not a big deal if lurkers join, heck maybe playing terraria with us might encourage them to actually join in on some discussion.
also personally I prefer a shorter password. something like 6thN. its a pretty long password to type in every time I join the server. (not that big of a deal one way or the other though)

By typing in /help you can get a list of commands. With that you can set your own password. Haven't tried it myself yet, so if you want to then let us know how it works out. There are a limited number of slots at this time. If interest grows we can talk about setting up some more slots (though it will be more costly). While I would certainly encourage lurkers to join in, I don't think it's too much to ask that they make an account to get the password. We were a little scattered today. How about we try to set up a time for several of us to be on at once? Is anyone free tomorrow? At what time (please include time zone)? If not tomorrow, then when are you free? Issues: Can't reassign housing for NPCs. Do not have permission. Small area around the spawn point cannot be altered, at least not by me. Progression: We have a small base of of few floors constructed, with a few basic NPCs in place. There are chests containing ore, some basic equipment, and various other items. Corruption has been discovered to both sides of the spawn area. Newbies use caution when exploring topside.

As Monkey said, there are limited slots, basically just enough for those how expressed interest. If lurkers start joining, that can take away from Nationites slots. If the server is popular and used well, I can add more slots (at a cost), and we can open it up then. Currently, it will remain private. Password is that length to make it a bit "stronger", but still easy enough to remember. Also, we, including me are still getting a feel for the server, tweaking it, etc. Don't want to open to the public until we, as a Nation, have done what we want, and tweaked it the way we want. You can use the following command to register with the server, and set your own password. I'm not sure if it is instant, or if the admin needs to approve it. Since you have the server password, it should be instant. /register <username>:<Password> -Don't use the brackets. You can login with command as well with /login <username> <password> -Using a space instead of a colon If it works like it did for me, keeping in mind it may not as I am the admin, you can use that password to login to the sever next time, and it will assign that username to you. - I will look in to the spawn and NPC issue. First time setting up a Terraria server, it will take some tweaking

I've spent a lot of time digging. Worked my way past the Eastern corruption, and hit the desert. Found a lot of silver and gold! Tried to build a roof top garden, nothing will grow, haha Monkey - I believe I have corrected the "protected spawn" concern. Please try it out and let me know, as I can't test it - Admin can dig there regardless.

Haha, that is a pretty awesome video!
Good time tonight, thanks all! The digging is a lot better with more then 1 person, and being on VOIP. Maybe next time you'll be able to join us on voice, Az... you know, for social digging? lol

8D It gets better as you learn to make more stuff. Some accessories, potions, and such will all make it easier to travel. We need to get some organization down. We'll quickly run out of chests and stuff if we don't get everything sorted. I can get some screenshots of my world if anyone wants to give you all an idea for a direction we might go. Not suggesting that we follow in my footsteps exactly, of course. I'd love to see what you guys do once you really get going in the building department. I'd say we've got a lot of the digging techniques down already. The miles and miles of tunnels can attest to that. Something that might be fun is to build our own individual houses. We have our central NPC tower, of course, but I think it'll be fun to try to design something fitting of our own personalities. Maybe I'll make a tree house? Amazingly enough, there's some Underground Jungle not too far down from our spawn location. Ry has a tunnel heading towards it last I saw. I found it not too far left of Az's tunnels, but was viciously mauled by maneaters and bats. lol, Ry. "I only dig socially."

some people just like to watch the world burn....well nobody does at least also can you guys please start using wooden platforms. You craft them out of wood, and can be made anywhere. if you need to climb up a steep area to high to jump put a platform next to it to jump up instead of building a set of blocks up which only work for 1 person 1 time. (anyone can come back later and easily climb up the wooden platforms.) or when making gaps across water, or chasms, use the platforms so you can go across but it doesnt block passage below.

im done for the night. got a lot done. my 1st goal is always to get the ivy whip as soon as possible, which requires going into an area with lots of really dangerous enemies and killing them for their drops. which means I need to get decent enough gear to handle that. so 1st I headed into the underground cavern and killed skeletons until 1 dropped a hook, and went and made 3 chains from iron, forged that into a grappling hook, which then let me traverse the underground corruption much easier without risk of falling to my death. (grappling hook works like in JC2 where it breaks fall damage) went down to break some shadow orbs for their drops using explosives (since its the only way to clear out the bricks in the corruption without the pickaxe you cant get until you kill the boss in the area) if you break any more shadow orbs in the underground corruption it will summon a boss and you will likely die. the 1st one triggered the arms dealer who is now in town. 2nd one got me the vilethorn (magic based weapon that can hurt enemies through walls) which was the reason I broke them in the 1st place. it also triggered a meteor which I mined fully (its was to the left in the jungle) I made a hamaxe (hammer and axe in one) and a phase blade (one of the best melee weapons available prehardmode, does 21 damage) so now I am ready to take on the underground jungle. though I still have enough meteorite bars left for another phase blade, which brings me to my main question....
Do you guys want the phase blade? taking it now will ruin the natural progression of the game. (that is to say you will be killing everything in a couple shots, and you wont find anything better til we move on to hard mode.) Personally I think since I know (or think so at least) that most of you are on your 1st playthrough of the game that you shouldn't take it, and just work your way up to it. I only took it because im on my 3rd or 4th playthough of the game, and I am used to having certain navigational tools, and feel naked without them. I actually dont usually even take the phase blade, I use a different weapon that is crafted from some of the same materials used for the ivy whip, so I usually get them together.
also I am trying not to impact your guy's overall world too much. i'm avoiding triggering boss fights since you guys should probably take those on when your good and ready. though still helping you in less direct ways. I'll probably go check for the floating islands, which have some accessories that are quite useful.
also side note, I seem to have really bad luck. i've only found 1 heart, and only accessory I have is a shackle an enemy dropped. got 80 mana at least. the spear has pretty much been carrying me through everything up to the phase blade. found 2 more of them and put them in chests if anybody wants them. they are a great weapon, much better then the 8 damage would lead you to believe, and essential to pass through the corruption with low gear
EDIT: ivy whip is a fancier grappling hook btw.
